After trying my hand at golf during a the annual Daniel Stephen Ray, Jr. Tournament down in south Georgia, I realized that I am not a natural at golfing. This particular sport is very difficult and requires much more strategic planning, coaching, and lessons than I am ready to discipline in for the benefit of fun. However, the event itself was great with all of the proceeds going to benefit local children’s homes. I learned that as a participant in this particular benefit it would be best to just pay the fees and then stand around and become a social butterfly, which was an actual suggestion by the host when my teammate and I came in dead last!~
However, Disc Golf has proven to be very interesting to me and my family and seems to require a little less strategy and skill. Now don’t get all upset for those of you who are professionals at this extreme sport, I am just speaking as a casual past time sport not olympic try-outs! My family and I went for a little family outing and all played, and we found that our children have quite a bit of natural skill at playing the sport. I think with a few more rounds we all may be able to compete with others and do very well. It is also a very interesting way to spend some of your lazy summer days when all you here the kids say is “I’m bored!” We highly suggest you try it out.
